PowerBuild Batteries Receives CPRI Certification for OPzS Tubular Batteries

PowerBuild Batteries Private Limited, a subsidiary of Time Technoplast Limited, has received certification from the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) under IS 1651:2013 for its OPzS stationary batteries.

The certification shows that the company’s tubular batteries, which are stored in clear Styrene Acrylonitrile (SAN) containers, passed all tests. This shows that they are good for use in important infrastructure.

Wide Range of Certified Battery Variants

The certified product portfolio includes 2V OPzS battery variants with capacities such as 10Ah, 20Ah, and 300Ah. These flooded lead-acid batteries are designed to deliver long service life and reliable performance under continuous float conditions.

The company stated that the use of transparent SAN containers allows “easy inspection,” while the tubular plate design enhances durability and ensures stable performance in demanding environments.

Applications Across Critical Sectors

More and more, PowerBuild’s OPzS batteries are being used in industries that need DC backup power all the time. These include power generation and transmission systems, substations, thermal and hydroelectric plants, offshore oil and gas facilities, and the petrochemical industry.

Their ability to perform under high-load conditions makes them suitable for mission-critical operations.

Rigorous Testing and Market Positioning

After more than six months of rigorous evaluation, PowerBuild has joined a select group of Indian manufacturers capable of producing OPzS batteries with transparent containers for utility-grade applications.

The CPRI certification is a key requirement for participating in utility and EPC tenders, allowing the company to expand its presence in institutional procurement and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Production Strategy and Business Impact

The company noted that the new OPzS battery range will be produced using its existing manufacturing facilities, with “no additional capital expenditure required.” This approach is expected to improve capacity utilization and positively impact operating margins.

PowerBuild wants to strengthen its position in the stationary energy storage market by adding OPzS batteries to its product line. This will help the company take advantage of the growing demand in the power sector.

Growing Demand for Reliable Energy Storage

India’s power infrastructure is driving increased demand for reliable battery systems, especially for grid stability, backup power, and renewable energy integration. The OPzS segment is witnessing strong growth due to its longevity and performance advantages.
