RECPDCL Transfers Mekhali Power Transmission

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the interstate transmission project, Mekhali Power Transmission Limited, to Dilip Buildcon Limited. The transfer follows Dilip Buildcon’s selection as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.

As the winning developer, Dilip Buildcon will undertake the implementation of the transmission project, including its financing, construction, operation, and maintenance. The project is expected to play a key role in strengthening the transmission network and facilitating reliable power evacuation from generation sources to demand centers.

RECPDCL acted as the Bid Process Coordinator for the project and carried out the competitive bidding process in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Power. Following the successful completion of the bidding process, the project SPV was formally transferred to Dilip Buildcon, enabling the company to move ahead with project execution.

The Mekhali Power Transmission project is designed to enhance grid reliability, improve transmission capacity, and support the growing demand for electricity across the region. It is also expected to contribute to the integration of new power generation capacity into the national grid, thereby supporting India’s long-term energy and infrastructure development goals.

The transfer underscores the continued participation of private sector players in expanding the country’s transmission infrastructure through the TBCB route. It also reflects the government’s focus on creating a robust and efficient power transmission network to support economic growth and the ongoing energy transition.

With the acquisition of Mekhali Power Transmission Limited, Dilip Buildcon further strengthens its footprint in the power transmission sector, adding another strategic asset to its diversified infrastructure portfolio. The company is now set to commence the development of the project in line with the prescribed timelines and regulatory requirements.
