Replus Engitech, backed by HEG Advanced Materials, and Indus Towers have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions for telecom infrastructure in India.
Under the agreement, Replus Engitech plans to make dedicated BESS production capacity of 1.5 GWh available over a two-year period to support the evolving energy requirements of telecom infrastructure, according to HEG Advanced Materials’ exchange filing.
The collaboration will focus on developing and deploying energy storage solutions for telecom applications. Replus also plans to expand its telecom energy storage portfolio by introducing higher-capacity battery systems and exploring technologies such as sodium-ion batteries.
These solutions are intended to address requirements related to reliability, energy efficiency and lifecycle performance across telecom infrastructure.
Indus Towers is a telecom infrastructure company with a nationwide presence across all 22 telecom circles in India. Its customers include Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm and Vodafone Idea Limited.
Replus Engitech operates across energy storage and clean energy segments, including advanced battery technologies, BESS, telecom energy solutions and e-mobility. The company designs, manufactures and deploys Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC)-based lithium-ion battery systems and provides system integration, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), operations and maintenance, and lifecycle energy asset management services.
According to the company, Replus has deployed more than 1 GWh of energy storage capacity across BESS, electric mobility, telecom power solutions and hybrid energy applications.
HEG Advanced Materials operates across advanced battery materials, battery energy solutions and green power, with a focus on manufacturing, research and development and innovation.
Riju Jhunjhunwala, Chairman, Managing Director and CEO of HEG Advanced Materials, said the initiative would support the development of a domestic energy storage ecosystem for critical infrastructure while building manufacturing scale and technology capabilities.
Hiren Pravin Shah, Managing Director and CEO of Replus Engitech, said the company aims to develop energy storage solutions for telecom infrastructure by combining innovation, reliability and Indian engineering.
