River, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced an extended 8-year or 80,000 km warranty for its flagship electric scooter, the River Indie, starting from October 1, 2025. This enhanced coverage applies to both the battery and motor and is aimed at setting a new industry benchmark in customer assurance within India’s EV market.
The new warranty covers two primary conditions:
- Battery: Coverage is applicable if the State of Health (SOH) falls below 70%.
- Motor: The warranty applies if the motor becomes non-functional, even after professional repair attempts.
This 8-year extended warranty is available for new customers who purchased the River Indie on or after April 1, 2025, at a price of ₹8,399 plus GST. For existing customers who already hold a 5-year extended warranty, River is offering an upgrade option to the 8-year plan at ₹3,399 plus GST, valid for a limited one-month enrollment period.
River currently operates 32 outlets across 15 cities, including major hubs like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Visakhapatnam. The company plans to expand its retail and service footprint to cities such as Pune, Vijayawada, and Trivandrum by 2026, enabling broader access to service and support for customers.
Founded in 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River has secured investments from global leaders including Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co., Marubeni Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, and Toyota Ventures. Known for its innovation and customer-centric approach, River continues to play a growing role in India’s electric two-wheeler space.
With this 8-year battery and motor warranty, River is aiming to boost consumer confidence and promote long-term EV adoption, solidifying its position in the country’s evolving electric mobility landscape.
