SAEL Commissions 200 MW Solar Power Project in Rajasthan

SAEL Industries Ltd., an integrated renewable energy company, through its subsidiary Sunfree Energy RJP1 Pvt. Ltd., has now commissioned the first solar power project in Rajasthan with a capacity of 200 MW (AC) and 298 MW (DC). The Jalore district solar power is a project covering over 1000 acres. On 20th February 2024, SAEL signed the 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of the project with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd (RUVITL) at an electricity tariff of 2.61 per kWh.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Laxit Awla, Director, SAEL Industries Ltd., said, “Rajasthan has always been significant to India’s renewable journey, and our solar project at Jalore strengthens that legacy. We are proud to complete the project ahead of the contracted timeline. We thank the Government of Rajasthan and other agencies who supported us in getting timely approvals and resolving on-ground execution challenges seamlessly.”

“The project holds importance for us because it is the largest solar power project developed by SAEL that is connected to a State Transmission Utility. Over 80% of the solar modules installed at the solar plant are sourced from SAEL’s solar module manufacturing facility in Kishangarh, Rajasthan. Our focus is on creating solutions and empowering energy independence and sustainability in the energy space.” Laxit Awla added.

The project is due to commence on 17th August 2025, prior to its Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD), with the aim of allowing early transmission and extra supply of power in the state.

The solar project in Jalore uses novel TOPCon solar PV modules with 146 cells and 156 cells with peak outputs of up to 635 Wp and efficiency of up to 22.95. It is strategically positioned to offer smooth transmission connectivity and grid integration and limits transmission losses.
