On April 27th, SANY Microgrid launched the groundbreaking of its comprehensive solar energy storage project in Dobreşti, Romania. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Xiang Wenbo, the Rotating Chairman of SANY Group, Guo Ruiguang, the Vice Chairman of SANY Group and Chairman of SANY Microgrid Business Unit, other key executives of SANY Group; officials from the local government and project partners.
At the ceremony, Xiang Wenbo expressed sincere appreciation to the local government and partners for their continued support, and conveyed confidence in the project’s successful delivery and long-term development. Local officials emphasized the project’s strategic importance in optimizing the regional energy mix, creating employment opportunities, and advancing sustainable economic growth, reaffirming their commitment to providing full support.
SANY Microgrid also presented its integrated energy solutions during the event, highlighting its technological capabilities in renewable energy and energy management.
As SANY Microgrid’s first large-scale grid-connected solar-plus-storage demonstration project in Europe, the Dobresti project marks a key step in the company’s international expansion in the renewable energy sector. Moving forward, SANY will leverage this project to further promote the development of clean energy and the electrification of construction equipment in Europe, contributing to local economic growth while supporting the global transition toward a greener, more sustainable future.
“SAN WIN GREEN ENERGY S.R.L. is the Romanian subsidiary supporting SANY’s renewable energy and microgrid expansion in Romania and Europe. The company, represented by Xu Zhongtian, focuses on renewable power development, photovoltaic projects, battery storage systems, EPC coordination, and integrated microgrid opportunities.”
The microgrid is reportedly the biggest microgrid in Africa for mining purposes and consists of 13 MWp of solar photovoltaic systems, 39 MWh battery storage, and diesel generation as back-up sources of electricity.
Such elements create a micro-grid system that integrates solar power, energy storage, and diesel technology. The goal of the project is to ensure a steady flow of electricity in the mining operations and attain energy independence by minimizing dependency on traditional energy sources.
