State-owned energy major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited has appointed Satyan Kumar as its Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), strengthening its leadership team at a time when the company is expanding its focus beyond conventional oil and gas operations toward cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
With over 36 years of experience in the energy sector, Satyan Kumar brings a wealth of expertise in upstream exploration and production, petrochemicals, engineering services, project management, corporate strategy, and renewable energy. Over the course of his career, he has contributed significantly to business growth, operational efficiency, and the successful execution of major strategic initiatives across multiple segments of the industry.
Prior to this appointment, Kumar held several key leadership positions within the ONGC ecosystem. He served as Executive Director (Chief Strategy) at ONGC and played an important role in shaping the company’s long-term growth plans. He also led ONGC Green Limited, where he was involved in advancing renewable energy projects and supporting ONGC’s energy transition efforts. In addition, he held leadership roles at ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited, ONGC’s Hazira Plant, and ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL).
Throughout his professional journey, Kumar has overseen large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects, including power generation facilities, pipelines, petrochemical complexes, substations, and other critical energy assets. His broad experience across both traditional and emerging energy businesses positions him well to guide ONGC through a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
