Senvion India Wins 83.7 MW Wind Project Contract from Tata Power Renewables in Tamil Nadu

Senvion India has secured a new wind power contract worth 83.7 MW from Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) for a project to be developed in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the company announced today.

Order Details and Turbine Deployment

Under the agreement, Senvion India will supply and install 31 of its 2.7M130 wind turbine generators, all of which will operate at a 130-metre hub height. The turbines combine a large rotor design with advanced controls, making them particularly suitable for independent power producers (IPPs) seeking long-term, reliable performance.

In addition to the installation, Senvion will undertake operations and maintenance (O&M) for up to 25 years, ensuring continuous performance oversight throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Certified Site Execution and Monitoring

The wind farm will be constructed on a Senvion Certified Site a location that has already undergone detailed assessments including wind measurement, layout planning, logistics evaluation, land feasibility studies, and grid preparedness checks. According to the company, this certification minimizes early project risk and enables faster decision-making for customers like Tata Power Renewables.

Once commissioned, the project will be monitored using Senvion’s proprietary digital platform FleetPro™, which provides remote diagnostics, performance analytics, and planned intervention capabilities. The system is designed to help maximise turbine availability and overall operational efficiency throughout its lifespan.

Leadership Comments

Amit Kansal, CEO and Managing Director of Senvion India, highlighted the strength of the ongoing partnership:

“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with TPREL. The Certified Sites approach has allowed both teams to start from a position of confidence, with feasibility checks, wind assessments, and site readiness already in place. With the 2.7M130 platform and long-term O&M commitment, our focus is simple: reliable delivery from day one and consistent performance throughout the life of the project.”

Senvion India has been operating in the Indian market since 2016, with manufacturing capacity of 2 GW and an operational wind portfolio exceeding 1.5 GW nationwide.
