Sungrow’s C and I BESS PowerStack Energizes Dutch Poultry Farm

In order to minimize energy expenses and improve the value of the current solar installation, Sungrow, the world’s top supplier of PV inverters and energy storage systems, provided its commercial and industrial (C&I) BESS PowerStack to the poultry farm Quirijnen in Lage Mierde, the Netherlands. The project generates 440 kW of electricity output and 916 kWh of capacity with 4 PowerStack units.

The poultry farm uses approximately 100 MWh per year and generates 750 MWh per year with its solar system. “We have been looking for innovative solutions, such as an energy storage system,” stated Ward Schoenmakers, the Poultry Farmer.

The farm is now actively involved in the imbalance market by storing energy during periods of low price and discharging during periods of high price thanks to the sophisticated energy storage system. This calculated move supports a more robust and efficient energy system by stabilizing the grid and generating a new source of income. An intelligent, environmentally friendly investment that goes beyond self-consumption and transforms energy flexibility into a competitive edge.

Solar Crew has been active in solar installations since 2012 and has also specialized in energy storage systems in recent years. “We chose the PowerStack for this project because, in terms of specifications, it’s a very high-quality product. It has a high capacity and a high-power output. We have been working with Sungrow for years. That’s because it is an easy-to-install product, but mainly because of its quality. And that makes Sungrow a reliable partner,” stated Kevin Roks, owner of Solar Crew.

In this hybrid solar-plus-storage installation, the PowerStack is effortlessly integrated. The device has a 225 kW useable capacity and is outfitted with four batteries and a power conversion system (PCS). The PowerStack ensures that the company stays up and running in the case of a power loss by providing a continuous power source. With a cell temperature differential of no more than 2.5 degrees, the PowerStack’s sophisticated liquid-cooled technology ensures long-term dependability and more economical energy use.

“Sungrow sees the future of energy storage in the business market as essential for the energy transition. We will continue to innovate to meet diverse business requirements,” stated Menduh Cakmak, Field Service Engineer Sungrow.
