Torrent Power has floated a tender to procure 200 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) capacity coupled with battery energy storage systems (ESS), with a greenshoe option for an additional 100 MW.
The projects can be set up anywhere in India, with power delivery via the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) at designated delivery points under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). The ESS must be charged exclusively from renewable sources such as solar, wind, or hybrid projects.
Key Tender Details:
- Bid deadline: August 30, 2025 | Opening: September 1, 2025
- EMD: ₹2 million/MW | PBG: ₹5 million/MW
- Document Fee: ₹25,000 + GST | Processing Fee: ₹300,000 + GST
- Minimum Demand Fulfilment Ratio: 75% for both peak and non-peak hours; shortfalls will attract penalties at 1.5x the PPA tariff.
Criteria:
Bidders must have at least 100 MW of operational or under-construction renewable projects and meet financial criteria, including a minimum net worth of ₹20 million/MW and a turnover of ₹7.5 million/MW in FY 2024–25.
Only MNRE-approved solar modules and wind turbine technologies will be permitted. Delays beyond six months after the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) could lead to PPA termination and reduced capacity allocation.
Torrent Power’s move is part of its strategy to ensure reliable renewable supply by integrating battery storage, addressing intermittency issues, and supporting grid stability.
