Trontek Electronics, an Indian battery and energy technology company, will unveil its 5-MWh EKOM containerised Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at The Battery Show India 2026. The launch marks the company’s expansion from mobility batteries into large-scale energy storage. Trontek currently has an active manufacturing capacity of 3 GWh and plans to increase it to 12 GWh by 2028 to meet India’s growing energy storage demand. The EKOM system will be showcased at Stall C16, Hall 18, from October 22–24, 2026, at the India Expo Mart & Centre in Greater Noida.
The launch expands Trontek’s presence into large-scale energy storage, bringing its battery expertise to applications beyond electric mobility. Designed for industrial and utility-scale requirements, the EKOM platform addresses the growing role of energy storage in renewable energy integration, power management, and the evolving needs of India’s energy infrastructure.
The unveiling comes as energy storage gains strategic importance in India’s energy transition. As renewable energy capacity expands and electricity demand evolves, BESS is emerging as a critical enabler of greater flexibility in how power is stored, managed, and deployed. Trontek’s move into this segment reflects its ambition to participate in this expanding market through locally developed and manufactured solutions.
Building on more than two decades of experience in battery technology and manufacturing, Trontek is extending its capabilities across a broader range of energy applications. The company is targeting 12 GWh of manufacturing capacity by 2028, underscoring its longer-term ambition to scale its battery and energy businesses.
Speaking ahead of the unveiling, Samrath S. Kochar, Founder & CEO, Trontek, said: “Energy storage is becoming central to how India powers its next phase of growth. With EKOM, we are taking Trontek’s two-decade battery expertise into large-scale energy storage, building capabilities in India for the country’s evolving industrial and energy needs. Our ambition is to contribute to a globally competitive Indian energy storage ecosystem.”
EKOM: Expanding Trontek’s Energy Storage Ambitions
The unveiling of the 5-MWh EKOM containerised Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) marks a significant step in Trontek’s expansion into large-scale energy storage, extending its battery technology expertise to industrial and utility-scale applications.
At The Battery Show India 2026, Trontek will showcase its portfolio across three strategic pillars:
1. Electric Mobility
Battery solutions for two- and three-wheelers and other mobility applications, building on Trontek’s established business.
2. Energy Storage
POWERCUBE | Residential Storage: Home energy solutions for household power needs and energy management.
NOVARA | Commercial Storage: Scalable storage solutions for businesses and commercial facilities.
EKOM | Industrial & Utility-scale Storage: Higher-capacity BESS solutions, including the newly unveiled 5 MWh containerised platform, for larger energy storage requirements.
3. Power & Critical Infrastructure Solutions
Inverters & Solar Solutions: Inverter solutions for solar power and distributed energy applications.
Telecom Energy Solutions: Battery systems for telecom infrastructure and backup requirements.
This portfolio reflects Trontek’s evolution from a mobility-focused battery business into a broader energy technology company, with Made-in-India solutions spanning mobility, distributed energy, and large-scale storage.
Building an Indian Energy Storage Capability
A key pillar of Trontek’s expansion is the development of energy storage solutions suited to Indian market requirements, supported by local engineering and manufacturing capabilities. As demand grows across residential, commercial, industrial, and utility applications, the company sees an opportunity to build scale while contributing to the development of India’s domestic energy storage ecosystem.
Its planned 12 GWh manufacturing capacity by 2028 supports this long-term growth ambition. The EKOM unveiling represents an important milestone in that journey, signalling Trontek’s move into a new category of energy technology and its intent to participate in the next phase of India’s energy transition.
