In order to install 1 megawatt ultra-fast charging stations along important Indian highways, starting with the Hyderabad to Vizag route, Turno and ThunderPlus have partnered strategically. By addressing range concern, the partnership hopes to hasten the uptake of heavy commercial vehicles and electric buses.

The project is a component of ThunderPlus’ ‘One District, One Thunder’ effort, which aims to provide at least one powerful charging station in each Indian district, with a focus on areas near state and national highways.

“With this partnership, Electrigo aims to replace 10 crore bus kilometers of diesel consumption with electric by the end of 2026, marking a significant step towards a cleaner, more sustainable future,” said Sudhindra Reddy, founder of Electrigo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Turno.

Operating charging stations in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vizag, and Rajahmundry already demonstrate the impact. The collaboration intends to shortly extend to additional important routes.

With the ability to cut big commercial vehicle charging durations from hours to minutes, the 1 MW charging technology is a major improvement over conventional chargers. This development occurs as India works on lowering carbon emissions and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels for transportation.

While Turno concentrates on commercial EV adoption through its subsidiary Electrigo, which offers electrification solutions for big vehicle segments, ThunderPlus specializes in developing EV charging infrastructure.
