Volkswagen Announces the Launch of Golf GTE and Golf eHybrid

Volkswagen has announced the release of the Golf GTE and Golf eHybrid, which come with improved features and cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology. The Golf GTE beats even the GTI with an output of 200 kW (272 PS). More comfort and 150 kW (204 PS) are features of the Golf eHybrid.

With a total all-electric range of up to 143 kilometres, the eHybrid can go up to 131 kilometres, while the GTE can travel up to 131 kilometres. There is a DC quick-charging option on both models. On the outside, they feature reworked tail lights, upgraded LED headlights, and standard 17-inch alloy wheels. Comfort is improved by newer entertainment and driving assistance technologies. The Golf GTE is priced at €46,745 while the Golf eHybrid starts at €44,240.

Up to 143 km of total electric range are possible. The Golf GTE, the sportier model, has a combined electric range of up to 131 km and a system power of 200 kW (272 PS). A specifically made six-speed direct shift gearbox for plug-in hybrid drives transfers power to the front wheels.

Through the use of a new 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine (1.5 TSI evo2) with variable turbocharger geometry (VTG), a highly efficient TSI-evo combustion process, and a new 19.7 kWh battery (net, compared to the predecessor’s 10.6 kWh), the new plug-in hybrid system achieves exceptional efficiency. Impressive driving dynamics are delivered by both versions, with the electric motor producing plenty of torque even at idle.

The Golf GTE and Golf eHybrid are equipped with the Digital Cockpit Pro infotainment system and Discover Media navigation system as standard. These can be controlled through the free-standing 32.8 cm (12.9 inches) touch display. The array of driver assist features includes Travel Assist for supported driving up to 210 km/h, Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), lane keeping system (Lane Assist), and a recuperation function.
