ACME Cleantech Solutions Private Limited (ACME) has won the illustrious bid in the Solar Energy Corporation of India 8th green ammonia auction under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme (Mode-2A – Tranche I), and it has secured a contract to supply to Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) in Kandla, Gujarat. The company will source 100,000 TPA of green ammonia at a tariff of Rs 54.73 per kg on a long-term basis (10 years).
It is one of the 13 green ammonia auctions planned by SECI for 724,000 tonnes per year in total. To date, SECI has allotted a total of 560,000 TPA capacity through the 8 auctions held so far, with the highest cumulative capacity allotted to ACME totaling 225,000 TPA.
In July earlier in 2025, ACME was the first to win the auctions of the series to supply 75,000 TPA of green ammonia to Paradeep Phosphates Limited in Odisha at a price of Rs 55.75 per kg. Besides, in early February, ACME won the seventh auction to sell 50,000 TPA of green ammonia to Coromandel International Limited in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, at Rs 51.89 per kg.
Important Players
Other important players such as NTPC Renewable Energy, Onix Renewable, Oriana Power, Jakson Green and the consortium of SCC Infrastructure with InSolare Energy have participated in these auctions with a low tariff of Rs 50.75 per kg and a high bid of Rs 55.75 per kg.
ECI stated that the successive, and record-breaking, performance of such auctions is building confidence in the market, creating competitive tariffs, and demonstrating that India is uniquely positioned in the world today in terms of its robust system of assured offtake, competitive electricity tariff auctions, and strong payment security as being essential keys to unlock the green ammonia sector.
Aided by the management of MNRE and the steering by the Department of Fertilizers, underpinned by SECI, and the heavy involvement of off-takers such as IFFCO, green ammonia is becoming an imminent reality in the fields of both power and fertilizers. Through every successful auction, ECI pointed out that each is more than a price markroom—it is the determination to make India a global hub of green hydrogen and derivative pathways as the building block of a low-carbon, affordable, and scalable green hydrogen and derivative ecosystem.
