Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has commissioned a 139 MW solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat, taking its total operational renewable-energy capacity beyond the 20 GW milestone.
The company announced the commissioning on Tuesday, September 1, through a stock-exchange filing. The project was developed by Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A, a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of AGEL.
Following the addition, AGEL’s operational renewable-energy capacity increased to 20,280.8 MW. Its operational battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity stands at 3,551 MWh.
The company did not disclose the investment involved in the latest project, details of a power-purchase agreement or its expected annual electricity generation.
Khavda emerges as key renewable-energy hub
The 139 MW project is part of AGEL’s large-scale renewable-energy expansion at Khavda in Gujarat’s Kutch district. The company plans to develop 30 GW of renewable-energy capacity at the site by 2029, comprising solar, wind and battery storage.
Spread across 538 square kilometres of barren land, Khavda is being developed as a major renewable-energy hub and is described by AGEL as the world’s largest renewable-energy plant.
AGEL crossed 1 GW of operational capacity at Khavda in March 2024. By May 2026, the company had commissioned 3.37 GWh of battery storage at the site, which it described as the largest single-location battery deployment outside China.
According to AGEL, Khavda receives solar irradiation of around 2,060 kWh per square metre and has average wind speeds of about 8 metres per second, making the location suitable for large-scale renewable-energy generation.
The projects at the site use bifacial solar modules, horizontal single-axis tracking systems and waterless robotic cleaning technology. AGEL has also installed 5.2 MW wind turbines as part of the integrated renewable-energy development.
Adani Green targets 50 GW by 2030
Khavda is a key component of AGEL’s broader ambition to build 50 GW of operational renewable-energy capacity across India by 2030.
The company added more than 5 GW of renewable-energy capacity during FY26 as it accelerated development toward its 2030 target.
Following the commissioning announcement, Adani Green Energy shares were trading 3.54% higher at ₹1,257.90 on Tuesday. The stock has gained 24.62% so far in 2026 and around 40% over the past six months.
