Adani Power Limited has announced the incorporation of Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited (RRAEL) as a step-down wholly owned subsidiary, marking its formal entry into the nuclear energy sector. The new entity was incorporated on April 20, 2026, under Adani Atomic Energy Limited (AAEL), which itself is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Power.
Regulatory Filing and Corporate Structure
The company told the public about the development by filing a report with the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The announcement was officially sent to both BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited. It included information about the new subsidiary and how it would work.
As a step-down subsidiary, RRAEL has been added to the company. This means that Adani Power still owns and controls the company through AAEL. The goal of this layered corporate structure is to allow focused operations in the nuclear energy sector while keeping governance and oversight clear.
Strategic Expansion into Nuclear Energy
The formation of RRAEL represents a significant step in Adani Power’s strategy to diversify its energy portfolio and strengthen its presence in clean energy infrastructure. By entering the nuclear power segment, the company aims to complement its existing operations and position itself for long-term growth in low-carbon energy generation.
The initiative shows that the company is taking a planned approach to building a separate nuclear energy division from its traditional thermal power business. The step-down subsidiary model lets you run nuclear projects in a more specialised way while still making sure they fit with the group’s overall goals.
Business Scope and Financial Structure
RRAEL has been established with the objective of generating, transmitting, and distributing power derived from nuclear and atomic energy. The company has been incorporated with an authorized capital of ₹5,00,000, divided into 50,000 equity shares of ₹10 each. All shares are held by AAEL, maintaining a clear hierarchical ownership structure.
Strengthening Clean Energy Ambitions
Adani Power is showing that it is still committed to expanding into advanced and sustainable energy solutions with this move. By adding RRAEL, the company shows that it wants to be more involved in India’s changing energy landscape, especially in the development of nuclear power as a reliable and low-carbon energy source.
