Adani Power Ltd. (APL) has won a letter of award to provide power based on a new 800 MW thermal power plant to be developed in Madhya Pradesh.
Adani Group entity MP Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) has received the letter of award (LoA), the company said in a statement.
In a very competitive bidding process, Adani Power became the lowest bidder with a final tariff of Rs 5.838 per KWh. Under the contract, the company will provide power in the state through a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power unit, which will be constructed on the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model.
The business will spend Rs 10,500 crore on installing the plant and other infrastructure. The commissioning date of the unit will be 54 months to the appointed date.
“As India’s power demand continues to rise, driven by rapid economic growth, especially the base load power, it is imperative to invest in robust energy infrastructure to meet the nation’s growing needs. Adani Power remains committed to securing India’s energy future in a sustainable way by expanding capacity and embracing advanced technologies.”
“The Anuppur plant will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable, affordable, and competitively priced power for households and businesses, strengthening India’s and Madhya Pradesh’s energy security and fueling continued progress in the state,” said S B Khyalia, Chief Executive Officer, Adani Power.
The coal connection to the power plant has been granted through the SHAKTI Policy of the Government of India. It is estimated that 6,000-7,000 jobs will be created directly and indirectly during the construction period, and 1,000 people will be employed immediately after the project begins operation.
The company anticipates that the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) will be realized in good time with the state discom.
It is the fourth large power supply order the company has received in 12 months.
It and Adani Green Energy were given the LoI in September 2024 to supply 6,600 MW (5,000 MW solar and 1,600 MW thermal) of power to Maharashtra state. In May 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government gave it an LoA to supply 1,600 MW of power in a greenfield plant within the state.
In August 2025 the Bihar government awarded the company the LoA to supply the state with 2,400 MW of power generated by a new power plant that will be established in the state.
