Ather Launches BaaS, Slashes 450S Price to ₹84,341 with Battery Subscription Option

Ather Energy has announced the introduction of its Battery as a Service (BaaS) subscription plans for its popular Ather Rizta and 450 Series scooters. With this new offering, customers can now purchase the scooter’s chassis and body at a significantly reduced upfront cost, while subscribing to the battery separately.

    As part of this initiative:

    • The Rizta S now starts at just ₹75,999 (ex-showroom), down from the earlier price of ₹1,04,999.
    • The 450S, the entry-level model in the 450 Series, is now available at ₹84,341 (ex-showroom), compared to its previous price of ₹1,19,841.

This move is aimed at making Ather’s electric scooters more accessible to a broader audience by lowering the initial ownership cost and offering flexible battery subscription options.

BaaS service has a starting rate of 1 per kilometre charged on a 48-month package where the minimum monthly kilometre threshold is 1,000km. During the initial year, the customers will also be entitled to free fast charging on the network of 3300 public charging stations of Ather.

The company also has increased its Assured Buyback scheme, which now offers up to 60 per cent of price of new scooter (after 3 years) and up to 50 per cent (after 4 years), based on the kilometers coverage. Ather has also introduced Extended Comprehensive Warranty programme which covers battery pack and eleven stress test components, including motor, motor controller, dashboard, charging equipment, among others, up to five years or 60,000km. Such coverage coverage is open to all AtherStack Pro purchasers and offers increased confidence in the long-term ownership.

In sum, Battery as a Service mode is likely to allow more consumers to embrace the use of electric vehicles. Potential buyers however should add up keenly calculated expected monthly mileage in order to have economically-priced pricing structure.
