In a major win for India’s recycling industry, Attero has been honored at the 20th CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2026. The company received the Commendation for Significant Achievement in Environment Management, a prestigious title that recognizes its work in making the circular economy a reality in India.
A significant achievement in resource recovery.
On April 10, 2026, in New Delhi, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the Delhi Minister for Industries and Environment, presented the award. The Minister, during the event, commended companies such as Attero for their contributions to addressing the substantial waste issues plaguing India’s largest cities.
Attero’s success hinges on its cutting-edge technology for recycling electronic waste and used lithium-ion batteries. Unlike conventional approaches, which frequently waste valuable resources, Attero’s method recovers more than 22 essential and precious metals. These include lithium, cobalt, and graphite. By reclaiming these high-purity materials, the company is assisting India in decreasing its dependence on costly imports and environmentally harmful mining practices.
Building a Circular Economy for EVs
As India races toward its electric vehicle (EV) goals, the demand for battery minerals is skyrocketing. Attero has positioned itself as a critical link in this supply chain. Instead of letting old batteries end up in landfills, the company converts them back into raw materials that can be used to build new batteries.
This “urban mining” strategy directly supports the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Attero is contributing to a low-carbon ecosystem that benefits the electronics and EV sectors by keeping resources within India’s borders. Their Roorkee facility is already powered entirely by renewable energy, making the recycling process itself as environmentally friendly as possible.
Recognition for ESG Leadership
The CII-ITC Sustainability Awards represent a large amount of work (more than 1000 person hours) for each of the organizations evaluated during the evaluation phase. Attero’s latest award from the CII-ITC is further testament to Attero’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Attero’s goal is to demonstrate that waste has value as a resource; therefore, it not only cleans up our environment and is supported by its efforts in cleaning up waste; but also enhances the supply chain that will support a clean energy future for India. This award represents another significant achievement for Attero as it continues to grow and bring its green technologies to the global marketplace.
