    BASF, WELION & Yangtze River Delta Center Partner on Next-Gen Solid-State Battery Pack

    On March 7, BASF, the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center, and Beijing WELION New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop the next-generation solid-state battery pack. The collaboration focuses on designing non-metallic components using advanced material solutions to enhance lightweighting, thermal safety management, and functionality. WELION New Energy will lead the development of battery cells and systems, while BASF will contribute expertise in non-metallic component materials. The Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center will provide academic support. In 2024, the three partners plan to launch a concept solid-state battery pack, highlighting BASF’s innovations in lightweighting, thermal management, safety, sustainability, and functionality. This agreement marks a significant step toward advancing solid-state battery technology.
