Battery Smart concludes HackSmart tech hackathon with AWS

Battery Smart, India’s largest battery-swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers, has announced the successful conclusion of HackSmart, its first-ever technology hackathon, organised in association with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Designed to solve real-world clean mobility challenges across battery intelligence, EV operations, and cloud-scale infrastructure, HackSmart witnessed strong nationwide interest, drawing 1,000+ registrations, with 200+ shortlisted participants from leading engineering institutes including IITs, BITS, NITs, and other top universities.

The hackathon commenced on 31 January 2026 and culminated in a high-intensity 24-hour build sprint, supported by engineers from Battery Smart and AWS. Following demo-led evaluations by a jury comprising Battery Smart’s leadership and technology experts, the top five teams were selected as winners.

Commenting on the initiative, Tejasav Khattar, Senior Vice President – Engineering, Data and Product, Battery Smart, said, “HackSmart represents our commitment to advancing clean mobility while creating meaningful opportunities for India’s innovators. The quality of ideas and execution showcased by participants was truly impressive, and it motivates us to further adopt AI and ML-driven approaches supporting battery management and grid-readiness challenges.”

The event concluded with the announcement of winners, prize distribution, and a networking session, enabling participants to engage directly with Battery Smart’s engineering and leadership teams. The top three teams received non-cash prizes including a PlayStation 5, GoPro Hero 12, and a Marshall speaker and cash prizes upto 2 lakhs, along with pre-placement interview opportunities at Battery Smart.

With 1,600+ swap stations across 50+ cities and 270,000+ IoT-enabled batteries, Battery Smart will continue to drive initiatives like HackSmart to strengthen its cloud, data, and AI capabilities, while building a strong pipeline of future-ready engineering talent aligned with India’s clean mobility mission.

Battery Smart is India’s largest and fastest-growing battery-swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers. The company was co-founded by IIT-Kanpur graduates Pulkit Khurana and Siddharth Sikka in 2019 – to make EV adoption simple, economical, and accessible through a unique partner-led model. Battery Smart has completed over 100 million+ battery swaps, set up 1600+ swap stations, and works with over 100,000+ drivers across 50+ cities.
