BYD India has inaugurated its largest showroom in the country at Moti Nagar, New Delhi, in partnership with PPS Motors Pvt. Ltd.. The 9,000 sq. ft. facility, capable of displaying up to seven vehicles, marks the company’s 48th showroom in India and sixth in the Delhi NCR region.
Strengthening Retail Presence
The new outlet brings BYD India’s dealership network to 48 showrooms across 40 cities, supported by 18 dealer partners. PPS Motors, the franchise partner, now operates six BYD sales outlets and four service workshops across three states, making it the brand’s largest partner in India in terms of sales and after-sales reach.
The showroom is meant to give customers what the company calls a “immersive retail experience.” Customers can look at BYD’s electric cars and learn about the company’s battery technology and design philosophy. It also wants to be a key point of contact for customers who are thinking about switching to electric mobility.
Leadership Views on Expansion
Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, stated that the opening represents “a meaningful step in strengthening the brand’s retail footprint,” citing increasing consumer awareness and rising EV adoption in Delhi NCR as key drivers.
Rajiv Sanghvi, Managing Director of PPS Motors, described the development as part of a strategic expansion in northern India and said the partnership reflects “a shared focus on accelerating EV adoption in the market.”
Product Portfolio and Market Position
BYD India currently offers four electric passenger vehicles in the country, positioned in the premium segment. These include the SEALION 7, SEAL sedan, ATTO 3 eSUV, and eMAX 7 electric MPV, targeting customers seeking feature-rich alternatives to conventional vehicles.
Growing EV Demand in Delhi NCR
The expansion comes at a time when more people in India are buying electric vehicles, with Delhi NCR becoming a major market. The Delhi government has helped this growth by making policies that encourage people to buy electric vehicles and build charging stations. More people are becoming aware of air quality issues, and there are a lot of high-income people in the area, which has sped up the adoption of electric vehicles.
Global Strength and Local Growth
BYD India, established in 2007, operates two manufacturing facilities in Chennai and re-entered the passenger EV segment in 2022. Its parent company, BYD Co. Ltd., is the world’s largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles by sales volume, with over 4.6 million units sold globally in 2025.
With competition intensifying in India’s EV market, BYD’s continued retail expansion highlights its strategy to enhance accessibility and strengthen its presence across key urban markets.
