A portal was rolled out by Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) exclusively to Electric Vehicle (EV) users. This was announced in a meeting of the governing body of CREST by UT Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, who was also the chairman of the governing body of CREST.
Identification and clearance have once again been made easier as the portal hopes to advance accessibility and transparency among EV beneficiaries within the city through a user-friendly digital platform. It will facilitate the application process of subsidies under the Chandigarh EV Policy through the online portal, monitor the real-time status of the application, and retrieve the nearby available locations of public EV Charging Stations across the city of Chandigarh, which would be integrated with Google Maps to facilitate easy navigation.
In the meeting, it was also recognized by the Chief Secretary that Chandigarh has already reached the point of saturation as regards installing the Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) plant in all its government buildings—a landmark as far as Chandigarh is concerned towards sustainable energy and a low-carbon future.
To maintain efficiency of the solar infrastructure, the Chief Secretary ordered the CREST to carry out a third-party audit of all SPV projects that have been in use for over five years. Such audits will enhance accountability and sustainability of solar assets in the long run.
Moreover, he highlighted that technically innovative projects (Like SPV plants that were suggested over cycling tracks) need a sincere check at feasibility, performance and aesthetics, and the coordination should be absolutely close that associates the Chief Architect, UT Chandigarh.
