Cobra Electronics, a leading manufacturer of automotive and communication solutions, has announced the launch of its TrailBlazer line, a new collection of GMRS two-way radios designed for outdoor adventure enthusiasts.

“After spending over 60 years leading the two-way radio category and perfecting product design and the user experience, we’re excited to apply our expertise to the GMRS space and introduce a powerful, lightweight radio option giving customers the freedom to explore,” stated Jonas Forsberg, CEO of Cedar Electronics, parent company of Cobra Electronics.

Designed in the US, the TrailBlazer line includes three models – the 250, 450, and 500 – each tailored to the unique needs of adventurers, off-roaders, overlanders and outdoor enthusiasts. Featuring GMRS technology, the new radios offer improved range, signal quality, and flexibility over traditional FRS handsets, empowering users to stay connected in remote environments.

“Whether you’re spending a day on the dunes, an afternoon rock-crawling, or a week overlanding, our new TrailBlazer line is for anyone looking to take their adventures – and communication – to the next level,” attached Forsberg.

Key capabilities across the TrailBlazer series include:

    • Powerful GMRS Performance: The GMRS-enabled radios offer significantly greater range, audio clarity, and signal strength compared to unlicensed FRS alternatives. TrailBlazer’s repeater compatibility further extends connectivity in remote locations.
    • Rugged, Adventure-Ready Design: The TrailBlazer 250 is lightweight, durable, and splash-resistant to withstand the elements. The TrailBlazer 450 and 500 add IP54 dust and water resistance for the most extreme conditions.
    • Optimized Ergonomics: Intuitive controls like oversized knobs and tactile buttons ensure easy, one-handed operation, even with gloves on. The TrailBlazer 450’s large LCD display ensures visibility in low light.
    • Flexible Power & Charging: Depending on the model, the TrailBlazer line offers 12-16 hours of battery life, with USB-C charging and optional docking stations for easy recharging.
    • Multiple Antenna Options: All models offer removable antennas, giving you the ability to upgrade and optimize your range and performance on your adventure.
    • Simple to Program, Easy to Customize: Add favorite channels or privacy codes and customize to your liking with streamlined programming software.
    • Repeater Capable for Range Extension: Access repeater towers for range extension and over challenging terrain, allowing you to stay connected over longer distances.

Cobra TrailBlazer 250 and 450 are available starting today on www.cobra.com for $79.95 and $119.95, followed by the TrailBlazer 500 for $139.95 in March. All TrailBlazer radios will also be available on Amazon and other major retailers this spring.
