Taiwanese battery swapping network provider, Gogoro has been planning to carry out its debut in the Indian two-wheeler market.

GogoroThe company will be holding a press event on November 3rd where it is likely to be announcing the commencement of operations.

The tech giant has already partnered with Hero MotoCorp to supply its EV expertise to India’s largest two-wheeler maker which recently launched the Vida V1 electric scooter.

The news of Gogoro eyeing the Indian market comes out as no surprise since it is already co-developing vehicles and swapping infrastructure with Hero MotoCorp.

While it remains to be confirmed how Gogoro wishes to penetrate the Indian market and the approach it has planned, the Taiwanese technology giant is likely to offer a range of low- and high-speed electric scooters as seen in the overseas markets.

Gogoro will also most likely replicate its USP model of a widespread battery-swapping network, and removable battery packs with most of its Indian models too. This approach has been immensely successful in the company’s home market.

The invite mentions an intent to “decarbonize the last-mile sector”, this only hints that Gogoro might be aiming at the B2B products intended for last-mile delivery applications. Moreover, the company is also likely to extend its portfolio to offer B2C products for private buyers.

Currently, there are only a handful of players that offer EV two-wheelers to private buyers.

The Taiwan-based technology giant could use this opportunity to establish its operations in the country.

When launched, it will set eyes on products from EV-makers such as Ola Electric, Hero Electric, Okinawa, and TVS Motor Company among others.
