Hyundai Expands EV Charging Network in India

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has expanded its Ultra-Fast charging station network in India, adding 11 new stations. These stations are situated in important cities like as Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Gurugram, and Bangalore, as well as on significant roads such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Surat, and Mumbai-Nashik.

Each of these charging stations has three charging outlets with varying capabilities (DC 150kW, DC 60kW, and DC 30kW) to accommodate different EV models. The majority of these stations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and include facilities like as restaurants and retail malls for EV users’ convenience.

Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director, Corporate Planning, HMIL, emphasised the company’s commitment to enhancing the EV ownership experience and supporting the Indian government’s push for electrification. Hyundai aims to provide quick charging solutions, especially for its IONIQ 5 customers who can charge their vehicles from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes.

These Ultra-Fast charging stations offer charging sessions at competitive prices, starting from Rs 18 per unit for the 30kW charger, Rs 21 per unit for the 60kW charger, and Rs 24 per unit for the 150kW charger. Customers can easily locate and book charging slots through Hyundai’s app, myHyundai, which also provides navigation, digital payments, and charging status monitoring.

Looking ahead, Hyundai plans to expand its Ultra-Fast charging network to 10 or more new locations in 2024, with a focus on enhancing the overall EV experience for both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV users. Additionally, the company has committed to installing 100 charging stations by 2027 as part of its agreement with the Government of Tamil Nadu.
