Jio-bp and the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) have entered into a partnership to deploy EV charging infrastructure and related services for more than 100 electric buses operating across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
The initiative will be executed through Jio-bp pulse, the company’s electric mobility business, and is set to be rolled out over the coming months across six clusters in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. According to the companies, the project aims to strengthen public EV mobility infrastructure and support the growing adoption of electric public transport in the region.
As part of the collaboration, Jio-bp will install fast-charging infrastructure to support electric bus fleet operations. The companies said the charging network is designed to meet the operational needs of electric buses running on high-frequency routes.
“India’s transition towards sustainable mobility will be driven by strong public-private partnerships and the rapid electrification of mass transit systems, in line with the Government of India’s vision for cleaner and future-ready mobility. This collaboration between Jio-bp and UPSRTC is one of many important steps towards accelerating EV adoption at scale across high-utilisation public transport corridors. As an organisation, we remain committed to enabling this transition through reliable and accessible charging infrastructure as part of our broader efforts to support India’s sustainable mobility journey,” said Sarthak Behuria, Jio-bp Chairman.
“This partnership with UPSRTC aligns closely with Jio-bp’s strategy of building a robust and scalable B2B EV charging ecosystem for India. With more than 6,000 charging points across the country, Jio-bp is steadily expanding its EV infrastructure footprint to support the growing demand for electric mobility. By supporting high-frequency electric bus operations with fast-charging infrastructure, we are strengthening our presence in commercial fleet electrification while enabling efficient, future-ready mobility solutions across key transportation corridors,” added Akshay Wadhwa, Jio-bp CEO.
The companies noted that the project supports the Government of India’s efforts to increase the adoption of electric public transport in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities while contributing to emission reduction targets. They also stated that the partnership further expands Jio-bp pulse’s ongoing work in fleet and public transit electrification across India.
Operating under the Jio-bp brand, Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBML) is a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and bp. The company is active in fuel retail and mobility services, with offerings that include EV charging, compressed biogas (CBG), aviation fuel supply through the air bp-Jio brand, and diesel doorstep delivery via Jio-bp Fuel4U. RBML is also the Indian partner for BP’s Wildbean Café brand.
