JSW Energy Limited, through its step-down subsidiary Energizent Power Private Limited, has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC Limited for the supply of 300 MW of solar-wind hybrid power, the company informed in a press release.
JSW Energy will commission the project, linked to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), within the next 24 months, spanning sites in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. The company has also signed the PPAs for a 25-year term at a fixed tariff of Rs 3.49 per unit.
Fuelling the Indian clean energy prospects
This acquisition inches up the total locked-in generation capacity of JSW Energy to 29.9 GW, of which 12.5 GW are under operation, 12.8 GW are under construction, and 4.6 GW are in the development pipeline in terms of wind, thermal, and hydro projects.
The company also records 29.3 GWh of energy storage capacity, inclusive of 26.4 GWh via hydro pumped storage facilities and 2.9 GWh via battery energy storage systems.
As broadly defined by its clean energy transition strategy, JSW Energy has determined a long-term goal of launching 30 GW of power generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity in FY2030 and becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
