JSW Energy Ltd, the step-down subsidiary within the Group, has entered into a power purchase agreement with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (BESCOM) on a solar-cum-battery energy storage system (BESS) project.
JSW Energy said in a statement that step-down subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Ltd signed an agreement with BESCOM to supply a 100 MW solar photovoltaic and 100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at a grid-connected solar project.
The project shall be a grid-connected generation project that will be located in a dedicated site and will be interconnected at Firozabad substation G2 at the 220 kV side of Karnataka power transmission Corporation Ltd., 220/400 kV in Kalaburagi district.
Reliably learned in this connection, JSW Energy nabbed this project in response to a tender floated by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd last year in August.
The signed Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is of 25 years tenure at a tariff of Rs.4.31 per kWh. After this, the company has a total locked-in energy storage capacity of 29.4 GWh with 3.0 GWh of BESS capacity and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage. The release further said that the company is well placed to meet its 40 GWh of energy storage target by 2030.
