Juniper Green Energy has commissioned an additional 65.40 MW of wind power capacity through its wholly owned subsidiary, Juniper Green Stellar Private Limited. The newly operational capacity is part of a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, taking the project’s total commissioned capacity to 434.35 MWp, as stated in the announcement. The development marks another step in the company’s efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its clean power generation capabilities.
The commissioning adds to the project’s existing operational infrastructure, which combines renewable energy generation with battery storage to support reliable electricity supply. With this latest development, the total operational capacity under the specific project has reached 434.35 MWp, supported by approximately 201 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The project has a planned total capacity of 550.6 MWp, along with around 201 MWh of battery storage. The latest addition brings the project closer to its overall planned capacity, with further development expected to support the integration of renewable energy into the power system. The combination of wind power generation and battery storage is intended to help address the variability associated with renewable energy sources and improve the availability of electricity when required.
Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy projects are designed to provide power according to specified supply requirements by combining renewable generation with supporting technologies such as energy storage. These projects are gaining importance as India works to increase the share of clean energy in its electricity mix while maintaining grid reliability and meeting rising power demand.
Following the commissioning of the additional wind capacity, the parent organization and its subsidiaries have achieved an aggregate operational capacity of approximately 2,811 MWp, supported by 603 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems. This expansion reflects the organization’s continued focus on developing renewable energy generation and storage infrastructure.
The combination of wind power and battery storage can help make the electricity system more flexible by balancing changes in renewable power generation. As India expands its clean energy capacity, projects that combine renewable energy with storage are gaining importance in meeting future electricity demand, improving grid stability, and supporting the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
