Jupiter Electric Mobility Signs MoU Under PARIVARTAN Scheme to Accelerate EV Truck, Bus Adoption in Delhi-NCR

Jupiter Electric Mobility Signs MoU Under PARIVARTAN Scheme

Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) under the Government of India’s PARIVARTAN Scheme, strengthening the company’s role in the transition of ageing commercial vehicles in Delhi-NCR towards cleaner electric mobility.

The partnership comes as the government moves to accelerate the replacement of older, high-emission trucks and buses operating across the National Capital Region with cleaner Bharat Stage-VI-compliant and electric vehicles. The PARIVARTAN programme — Programme for Accelerated Renewal and Incentivization of Vehicle Assets for Reducing Transport Air Pollution and Network Emissions — was approved by the Union Cabinet in June 2026 with a total outlay of ₹9,585 crore, including ₹5,041 crore in Central Government support.

Under the scheme, participating vehicle manufacturers provide discounts to eligible buyers replacing older commercial vehicles. MoRTH said participating OEMs are required to provide an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses, with the discount for electric vehicles capped at the applicable discount for an equivalent internal-combustion-engine vehicle category. The wider scheme also provides 5% interest subvention, while participating states can provide up to 100% motor vehicle tax concession for 10 years and waiver of registration fees for eligible beneficiaries.

The inclusion of JEM adds another electric commercial-vehicle option to a programme designed to support fleet modernisation and reduce transport-related emissions in one of India’s most pollution-affected regions.

JEM’s role in India’s electric commercial mobility

Jupiter Electric Mobility is the electric mobility arm of Jupiter Wagons and focuses on commercial electric vehicles and energy solutions. The company describes itself as a next-generation subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons, with its core mobility focus on electrifying last-mile and middle-mile logistics through its JEM TEZ platform. Its activities also extend into battery technology and energy-storage solutions.

Jupiter Electric Mobility’s flagship JEM TEZ is a 1.05-tonne electric light commercial vehicle. The company’s official platform lists a 190+ km range, 265 Nm torque, fast charging capability of up to 100 km in one hour on CCS-2 charging, and a battery warranty of up to 2 lakh km/7 years.

The company has also been expanding its commercial EV ecosystem through charging, financing, fleet and logistics partnerships, while developing battery capabilities in India.

The PARIVARTAN Scheme is particularly significant for the commercial EV market because it combines vehicle replacement with financial support. The government’s July guidelines provide a structured route for replacing older trucks and buses with cleaner vehicles, while Delhi has adopted particularly strong provisions for electric replacement vehicles.

With Jupiter Electric Mobility now participating through its MoU under PARIVARTAN Scheme with MoRTH, the company is positioned to engage more directly with fleet operators seeking to transition towards electric commercial transportation under the government-backed vehicle renewal programme.
