Kabra Extrusiontechnik Commissions BESS Project in Rajasthan

Kabra Extrusiontechnik Limited has successfully commissioned a 10 MW/20 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Phalodi, Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into the green energy and energy storage segment.

The project has been executed in accordance with the requirements of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) and is designed to support efficient energy management and strengthen grid stability. The commissioning also highlights Kabra Extrusiontechnik’s growing capabilities in large-scale, grid-connected energy storage solutions.

The development comes as the company accelerates its strategic shift from traditional plastic extrusion machinery towards clean energy solutions through its Geon division, formerly known as Battrixx.

Kabra’s clean energy business has emerged as a key contributor to the company’s overall growth. In the first quarter of FY27, Geon division revenue increased 133.1% year-on-year to ₹70.11 crore, accounting for approximately 56.3% of the company’s consolidated revenue.

Kabra Extrusiontechnik’s consolidated revenue from operations stood at ₹124.49 crore in Q1 FY27, representing a 44.8% increase from ₹85.97 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The company’s transition into energy storage comes as demand for utility-scale BESS solutions rises in India, driven by the increasing integration of renewable energy into the electricity grid.

The company is also strengthening its financial position to support the expansion of its clean energy business. Shareholders on September 2, 2026, approved a preferential issue of equity shares to raise up to ₹141 crore at an issue price of ₹375 per share.

The capital is expected to support the growth of the Geon division, including investments in battery cell assembly and clean energy integration capabilities.

Despite the strong revenue growth, Kabra continues to work towards profitability. Its consolidated net loss narrowed to ₹1.74 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹7.61 crore in Q1 FY26.

The commissioning of the Phalodi project comes amid growing demand for battery energy storage systems in India as renewable energy capacity expands. Energy storage is increasingly being deployed to manage intermittency from solar and wind generation, improve grid stability and enable more efficient power management.

With the successful commissioning of the Rajasthan project and continued growth in its Geon division, Kabra Extrusiontechnik is positioning itself to expand its presence in India’s emerging utility-scale energy storage market.
