KP Group Strengthens Its Vision for Growth with Sunil Kumar Maheshwari as Vice Chairman

The KP Group has appointed Sunil Kumar Maheshwari as its vice chairman. He also joined the boards of directors of the Group’s three listed companies, KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited.

Sunil Kumar Maheshwari has almost forty years of experience in academics, public sector leadership, and industry engagement, according to a press release from KP Group. He has provided advice to numerous organisations in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, banking, energy, infrastructure, electricity, healthcare, and logistics.

Leadership development, organisational restructuring, human capital development, governance, and business turnaround are the main topics of his research, consultancy, and advising work. He has collaborated with international organisations, government agencies, large business groups, global corporations, and public sector businesses. He has been on the boards of organisations like UCO Bank, Andhra Bank, and the NTPC School of Business. He is a graduate of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad.

Previous Experience of Sunil Kumar Maheshwari

At IIM Ahmedabad, Sunil Kumar Maheshwari was a professor of human resource management and strategy as well as the dean of alumni and external relations. He was a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and the National Academy of Indian Railways before joining IIM Ahmedabad.

He advised the Indian government’s Minister of Human Resource Development from 2009 to 2013. Numerous awards, including the National Academy of Indian Railways’ Gold Medal for Excellence in Service, have acknowledged his accomplishments. Maheshwari’s appointment to the board strengthens KP Group’s leadership bench at a critical juncture in its development by combining decades of experience in academia, governance, organisational restructuring and turnaround, and corporate boardroom exposure.

Faruk Patel, Chairman & Managing Director, KP Group, stated, “It gives me immense pleasure to welcome Prof. Sunil Kumar Maheshwari to our Board as Vice-Chairman. I have known him for a long time now and have been personally working with him for the past one and a half years. His career reflects a rare combination of academic rigour, governance expertise, and boardroom experience across some of India’s most respected institutions. As the organisation grows in scale and complexity, his counsel on governance, strategy, and people will be invaluable in shaping how we build for the future. I am confident that his guidance will help us build stronger systems, sharper decision-making, and a leadership culture capable of sustaining our growth for the years ahead. On behalf of the entire KP Group family, I extend a very warm welcome to Prof. Sunil Kumar Maheshwari.”
