NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has expanded its portfolio of renewable energy sources and raised the group’s operating capacity to over 10.7 GW with the completion of the first 50.4 MW phase of its Vanki Wind Energy Project in Gujarat.
The business declared that on July 8, 2026, at midnight, the first portion of the wind project’s capacity, which is situated at Vanki in Nakhatrana, Kutch district, began commercial operations. The project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL.
The NTPC Green Energy group’s installed and operating renewable energy capacity has increased from 10,671.40 MW to 10,721.80 MW with the commissioning of this additional capacity.
Regulatory Filing Confirms Capacity Addition
In accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, the company reported the commissioning to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE.
The statement states that as of July 8, 2026, the newly commissioned 50.4 MW has been added to the group’s operating asset base.
Through the commissioning of utility-scale wind and solar projects around India, NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has been gradually growing its portfolio of renewable energy sources.
The Growth of Renewable Energy Persists
As the business speeds up capacity addition across several clean energy segments, NTPC REL has completed a number of renewable energy projects in recent months, including the most recent commissioning.
NTPC REL has strengthened its long-term renewable power supply portfolio by entering into a bilateral power purchase agreement (PPA) with PTC India Limited for the sale of 1,200 MW of solar power.
The company requested bids in May 2026 for the remaining system package for two grid-connected solar projects in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, with a combined capacity of 900 MW. A 500 MW and a 400 MW solar plant are part of the development.
