Serentica Renewables has signed a PPA with the SECI for a 600 MW allocation under the FDRE VII Assured Peak Tender, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to develop reliable, storage-backed renewable energy solutions in India.
This deal moves Serentica Renewables from a winning bid to project execution and further emphasises the country’s growing emphasis on Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE). The project is designed to provide clean power when the sun doesn’t shine, through a combination of renewable energy generation and energy storage to meet peak electricity demand and improve grid stability.
The 600 MW FDRE project aims to address one of the key challenges of renewable energy adoption — intermittency. By combining renewable resources with advanced storage capabilities, the project will ensure a more predictable and flexible power supply, supporting India’s shift towards a resilient low-carbon energy ecosystem.
Serentica Renewables emerged as the top winner in the SECI FDRE VII auction, highlighting the company’s expanding role in building next-generation renewable energy infrastructure. “The project highlights the significance of storage-backed clean energy systems as India scales up renewable deployment and transitions to its long-term energy transition goals.
Commenting on the development, Akshay Hiranandani, CEO, Serentica Renewables, said, “The signing of the PPA marks an important milestone in translating our successful bid into execution. We remain committed to developing innovative energy solutions that accelerate India’s transition to a resilient, low-carbon power system.”
As India’s electricity demand has grown and renewables have become more integrated, FDRE projects are emerging as an important part of India’s clean power strategy. Renewable projects in the traditional sense depend on the real-time availability of solar or wind, but storage-integrated solutions can deliver renewable energy when demand peaks, including in the evenings and at non-solar hours.
The latest PPA Agreement with SECI further strengthens Serentica Renewables’ commitment to building firm, dispatchable renewable energy solutions that support a flexible and reliable electricity network. As India’s energy transition gains momentum, such projects are expected to play a central role in reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and enabling round-the-clock access to clean power.
Through its continued focus on innovation, renewable integration and energy storage deployment, Serentica Renewables aims to contribute towards India’s journey of creating a more sustainable, secure and future-ready energy system.
