Ingro Energy Launches Sims Platform to Simplify Renewable Energy and BESS Sizing in India

Ingro Energy has launched Sims, a decision-analysis platform designed to help renewable energy developers and engineers assess and optimise renewable energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) configurations for the Indian power market.

The platform has been developed in response to the increasing complexity of renewable energy projects, where conventional static sizing models may not fully account for changing tariffs, regulations, grid conditions and project economics.

Sims is built specifically around Indian electricity market conditions, incorporating state-level tariff structures, open access dynamics and Time-of-Day (ToD) pricing. The platform is designed to support project analysis across states including Maharashtra, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, with further markets expected to be covered.

By combining local electricity market conditions with engineering parameters, Sims enables users to evaluate different renewable energy and BESS configurations and generate feasibility-oriented models within minutes.

The platform is aimed at addressing a key challenge for renewable energy developers: determining the appropriate combination and sizing of generation and storage assets before committing to project development.

For BESS projects, factors such as electricity tariffs, charging and discharging windows, renewable generation profiles and grid requirements can significantly influence system economics. Integrating these factors into the sizing process can help developers assess how different system configurations could perform under real-world operating conditions.

Ingro Energy said generic energy modelling tools often struggle to capture the regulatory and commercial variations across India’s state-level electricity markets. Sims is designed to incorporate these local market characteristics directly into the analysis process.

The platform brings together market and engineering inputs to help users compare potential renewable and storage configurations, allowing developers and engineers to make faster decisions during project feasibility and planning.

The launch comes as India’s renewable energy sector increasingly looks toward battery storage to manage variable renewable generation, improve grid flexibility and optimise electricity costs. As solar and wind capacity expands, accurate sizing of BESS assets is becoming increasingly important for project economics and operational performance.

Sims is positioned as a tool for this evolving market, helping users move beyond static sizing approaches toward more dynamic analysis based on actual market conditions.

With the launch of Sims, Ingro Energy aims to provide renewable energy and BESS developers with a more locally relevant approach to project sizing and decision-making, reducing the time required to evaluate complex project configurations while improving the precision of feasibility analysis.
