Roofsol Energy signs PPA with ACG

Roofsol Energy Pvt Ltd has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Associated Capsules Group (ACG) to set up a 5 MWp Solar Power Project integrated with a 4 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Maharashtra. This project represents an important milestone for Roofsol Energy as the company expands its renewable energy portfolio and enters the battery energy storage space in the commercial and industrial (C&I) market.

The solar-plus-storage project will combine renewable power generation and battery storage to deliver a cleaner, more flexible and reliable energy solution for ACG. The company said the solar plant’s integration with a BESS will optimize energy use, enhance the use of renewable power and drive energy resilience across ACG’s operations.

“This project is very important for Roofsol Energy as it is the company’s first BESS order in the C&I segment.” The development highlights the growing importance of energy storage in India’s renewables sector, particularly for industrial and commercial customers who require reliable electricity but want to reduce their dependence on traditional power sources.

Solar generation is naturally subject to factors such as sunlight availability and weather. Some of these issues can be mitigated by battery storage, which allows excess solar power to be stored and then used when needed. This can provide companies with more flexibility to use energy and help make renewable energy systems more effective overall.

The project will help ACG meet its sustainability targets and enable access to cleaner power for its manufacturing operations. ACG World is a global manufacturer of empty hard capsules and pharmaceutical packaging solutions to the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. The company has been working with innovation, quality and sustainable manufacturing practices.

The partnership between Roofsol Energy and ACG is also a reflection of the increasing interest of industrial companies in comprehensive renewable energy solutions. As the cost of electricity becomes increasingly important, solar-plus-storage systems are an attractive option for businesses to meet some of their power needs due to energy security and sustainability.

Maharashtra project is expected to showcase the integration of renewable energy and battery storage to meet the energy needs of specific C&I customers. Such projects can give businesses more control over their energy use, and help to increase the share of renewable power in industrial activity.

As the energy storage market in India gains momentum, the entry of Roofsol Energy into the C&I BESS market is well-timed. The expectation is that battery storage will play an increasing role in integrating renewable energy sources into the power system and in providing a more responsive supply of electricity.

Hence, the company’s association with ACG is more than just a PPA. This is part of a broad move to integrated clean energy solutions that include solar generation and energy storage. With more and more companies seeking affordable, reliable and sustainable power solutions, projects such as this 5 MWp solar and 4 MWh BESS facility could help accelerate the adoption of renewables across the C&I sector in India.

The partnership is expected to boost the rollout of solar-plus-storage technology in industrial applications and help accelerate the transition to cleaner, more resilient energy consumption, Roofsol Energy and ACG said.
