Mahindra Susten has announced the appointment of Ashish Kumar as Head – Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS), further strengthening its leadership team as the company expands its focus on advanced clean energy technologies and integrated renewable energy systems.

Ashish Kumar brings nearly 19 years of professional experience across renewable energy, energy storage, clean technology, and business development. Over the course of his career, he has developed deep expertise in driving large-scale energy transition initiatives, with a strong focus on building sustainable and scalable solutions for the evolving power sector. His work has spanned both the energy and automotive industries, giving him a broad perspective on the intersection of mobility, power infrastructure, and clean technology adoption.

Before joining Mahindra Susten, Ashish Kumar held a key leadership role at JSW Energy Ltd, where he was responsible for New Clean Technology and the Energy Storage Solution ecosystem. In this position, he played an important role in shaping strategic initiatives around battery storage, renewable integration, and next-generation energy solutions. His work supported the company’s broader transition toward sustainable and future-ready energy infrastructure.

Earlier in his career, he has worked with several prominent organizations in leadership capacities, including AMPIN Energy Transition, Raychem RPG (P) Ltd, Seashell Group, NTPC Limited, and Maruti Suzuki. Across these roles, he contributed to areas such as renewable energy development, corporate strategy, technology deployment, and business expansion. His experience at NTPC Limited and Maruti Suzuki, in particular, reflects his exposure to large-scale infrastructure and industrial energy applications, further strengthening his cross-sector expertise.

Academically, Ashish Kumar is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna. His strong educational background in management and engineering has complemented his professional journey, enabling him to combine technical understanding with strategic leadership in the energy sector.

In his new role at Mahindra Susten, Ashish Kumar will be responsible for leading the company’s Battery Energy Storage Solutions vertical. His key focus areas will include developing and executing strategies for energy storage deployment, supporting renewable energy integration, and advancing innovative storage technologies. He will also play a critical role in strengthening Mahindra Susten’s position in the fast-growing energy storage market, which is becoming increasingly important for grid stability and renewable energy scalability.

The appointment comes at a time when India’s energy sector is witnessing rapid transformation, with growing emphasis on renewable energy integration and the need for efficient storage systems to manage intermittency. Battery energy storage is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the country’s clean energy transition, making leadership in this area strategically significant for companies like Mahindra Susten.

With his extensive experience across energy storage ecosystems, clean technology initiatives, and strategic business development, Ashish Kumar is expected to contribute significantly to Mahindra Susten’s growth ambitions. His leadership is likely to support the company’s efforts to build robust, scalable, and commercially viable energy storage solutions for the future.
