Maxis expands Home Solar solution across Peninsular Malaysia

Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, is making green energy more accessible with the expansion of its Maxis Home Solar solution to households across Peninsular Malaysia. This expansion follows the successful initial introduction of the solution to Maxis customers in the Klang Valley in late-2024.

Maxis Home Solar provides a complete, worry-free experience to homeowners, allowing them to subscribe to a solar energy system with a low upfront payment of RM1,000. The monthly subscription covers solar panels, inverters, along with installation, maintenance and proactive monitoring. Customers will enjoy 24/7 customer support from Maxis, with systems backed by a comprehensive warranty and solar insurance for peace of mind.

Following positive feedback from early adopters in the Klang Valley, the solution is being expanded across Peninsular Malaysia starting May 2025. By end-2025, the solution will be available to both Maxis and non-Maxis customers.

“We are excited to enable more households in Malaysia to access solar energy through this worry-free subscription service. Our aim is to bring green energy adoption into the mainstream, backed by our proven experience in services, sales, and customer satisfaction spanning 30 years in the subscription business. With Maxis Home Solar, we are confident of delivering a seamless, sustainable and rewarding experience to customers.” – Patrick Er, Director of Maxis Green Solutions Sdn Bhd and the Chief People and Transformation Officer of Maxis

Customers can enjoy up to 25% savings on their electricity bills from day one, with long-term protection against rising energy costs. A customised solar solution is proposed based on home size and electricity usage. Flexible payment options are available, either through a flat monthly fee or payment based on energy generated.

Designed to make renewable energy more accessible to Malaysian homeowners, the solution taps into the vast pool of landed residential properties and growing interest in green energy in the country. The solution expands on Maxis’ converged home offerings, leveraging its extensive presence and expertise serving a customer base of 10.4 million subscribers and 780,000 homes.

Beyond cost savings, Maxis Home Solar is ideal for environmentally-conscious customers looking to reduce their carbon footprint. By equipping households with green energy, the solution also addresses rising energy demand and emissions, supporting the nation’s sustainability agenda towards achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Maxis Home Solar subscription service includes:

  • Comprehensive Setup and Installation: End-to-end service, from system design and installation to managing Net Energy Metering (NEM) applications and smart meter setup.
24/7 Customer Support: Round-the-clock assistance to ensure peace of mind for homeowners.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Ongoing servicing at no extra cost, backed by Maxis’ award-winning customer support.
  • Proactive Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Ensuring optimal system performance and maximum energy savings.
  • Insurance and Warranty Management: 10-year comprehensive protection with insurance coverage and warranty management for long-term reliability.
