Neuron Energy has commissioned a new battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra, marking its strategic entry into the grid-scale energy storage market. The facility has been developed to manufacture containerised BESS solutions designed for deployment across solar and grid infrastructure, enabling efficient storage of excess energy and supply during peak demand periods.
Spread across seven acres, the plant has been established with an investment of Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion). It has been designed as a fully automated, robotic production unit with an annual manufacturing capacity of 5 GWh. Additionally, the facility is capable of producing up to 1,000 containerised BESS units per year.
Advanced Manufacturing to Support Renewable Integration
The Talegaon facility’s goal is to improve the infrastructure for storing energy by supporting the integration of renewable energy sources and the stability of the grid. The containerised BESS units will be very important for making sure that power is always available and for balancing solar generation that isn’t always there.
Pratik Kamdar, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Neuron Energy, highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion, stating, “The expansion into grid-scale storage aligns with the company’s existing capabilities in advanced energy solutions, and the Talegaon plant will cater to both domestic and international markets.”
Focus on Domestic and Export Markets
Neuron Energy plans to allocate around 60% of the facility’s production capacity to the domestic market, while the remaining 40% will be directed towards exports. The company is targeting a wide customer base, including solar developers, commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers, and utilities.
The facility is also expected to create significant employment opportunities, generating over 500 direct and indirect jobs across engineering, manufacturing, system integration, and technical services.
Expanding Energy Storage Portfolio
Neurone Energy, which started in 2018, focuses on energy storage systems, lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), and ways to charge EVs. The company currently has factories in Kapashera (Delhi), Noida, and Pune, and it is still growing in the advanced energy solutions sector.
With the commissioning of the Talegaon BESS plant, Neuron Energy aims to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing energy storage market while supporting India’s transition towards a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
