NTPC Limited has awarded an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract to Jayram Industries India Pvt Ltd for a solar-based microgrid project at its NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA) facility in Greater Noida. The tender for the project was issued in February 2026, marking a step toward strengthening the operational efficiency of clean energy assets.
The project includes the operation and maintenance of a 4 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) microgrid and a 1,250 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The contract lasts for two years, during which time Jayram Industries will be in charge of making sure that both the solar installation and the energy storage system work well and without problems.
Project Scope and Key Components
The microgrid is designed to supply power to multiple facilities within the NTPC NETRA campus, including buildings, hostels, and pilot installations. The inclusion of a battery energy storage system is critical to maintaining a stable and uninterrupted power supply.
Key Highlights:
- 4 MW solar PV-based microgrid at NTPC NETRA, Greater Noida
- 1,250 kWh BESS integrated into the system
- Two-year O&M contract awarded to Jayram Industries
- Supports reliable power supply across campus facilities
Entry into BESS O&M Segment
Jayram Industries India Pvt Ltd is entering the battery energy storage system O&M market with this project. This shows how important storage solutions are becoming in renewable energy projects. As more renewable energy comes online, BESS is very important for keeping supply and demand in balance, making the grid more stable, and making the whole system work better.
Strengthening Clean Energy Infrastructure
The initiative aligns with NTPC’s broader strategy to expand its clean energy portfolio and adopt advanced technologies that support India’s energy transition. By integrating solar power with battery storage, the project demonstrates the practical implementation of hybrid energy systems in a controlled microgrid environment.
At the same time, the development highlights emerging opportunities in the solar and energy storage sectors, particularly in O&M services. As more such hybrid projects are deployed, the demand for specialized operational expertise is expected to grow.
Supporting Sustainable Power Goals
NTPC and Jayram Industries are working together to make sure that the microgrid runs smoothly and reliably while also helping to make power generation more sustainable. The project is part of ongoing efforts to improve India’s clean energy infrastructure and help the country reach its long-term clean energy goals.
