NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nxtra Data Limited to explore and develop renewable energy (RE) projects across India. The agreement was formalized on March 24, 2026, at NTPC Bhawan, New Delhi, and was signed by Sarit Maheshwari, CEO of NGEL and NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, and Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra Data.
Objective: Supplying Round-the-Clock Green Power
The goal of the partnership is to find and put into action renewable energy projects that can provide Nxtra’s data centers across the country with green power 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Nxtra will use the electricity from these projects for its own needs, which will help the company become less dependent on traditional power sources and support its efforts to be more environmentally friendly.
“With this agreement, Nxtra Data can secure uninterrupted, renewable power for its operations while significantly lowering its carbon footprint,” the company stated.
The partnership also strengthens the integration of renewable energy into India’s expanding data centre ecosystem, which is witnessing growing energy demand due to rapid digital adoption.
Strategic Significance for NTPC Green Energy
The MoU is a chance for NGEL to add to its renewable energy portfolio and help businesses switch to cleaner power sources. This partnership fits with NGEL’s larger goal of helping India switch to clean energy and removing carbon from important sectors.
The company has shared details of this agreement under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, with Manish Kumar, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, submitting the official disclosure to stock exchanges.
Impact on India’s Renewable Energy and Data Centre Sector
