NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 10 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, following the declaration of commercial operations at its Khavda projects. With the latest additions becoming effective at 00:00 hrs on March 31, 2026, the NTPC Green Group has crossed the landmark 10 GW threshold, reinforcing its position in India’s clean energy transition.
The goal was reached after the NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) Khavda-I RE Project was given 78.02 MW and the Khavda-II Project was given 90 MW. As of March 31, 2026, the Group’s total installed capacity has grown to 10,076 MW.
The company’s growth over the last fiscal year has been especially impressive. NGEL added 4,175 MW of capacity in FY 2025–26, showing that it can execute well and grow quickly. A big part of this, 2,065 MW, was put into service in the fourth quarter alone, showing that projects are being finished faster.
The latest commissioning has brought the NTPC REL Khavda-I project to its full capacity of 1,255 MW. Meanwhile, the Khavda-II project has achieved 1,005 MW of commissioned capacity out of its planned total of 1,200 MW. Together, the Khavda Renewable Energy Park now contributes a combined 2,560 MW of installed capacity, all of which has been commissioned within the current financial year.
This accomplishment shows how quickly and on a large scale the Khavda site is developing, making it a major player in India’s growth in renewable energy. NTPC Green’s quick addition of capacity shows that the company is focused on expanding its clean energy portfolio and helping the country reach its sustainability goals.
With this milestone, the NTPC Green Group reaffirmed its long-term vision, stating its commitment to “creating a cleaner, greener and a sustainable future for the generations to come.”
