Odisha is quickly becoming a major center for solar energy, with the ability to produce more than 200 GW of solar power.
The state’s solar energy potential includes 138 GW from ground-mounted projects and 33.5 GW from floating solar, which is supported by almost 670 sq. km of water bodies across Odisha.
Current Solar Contribution
Odisha has a total of 2,938 MW of renewable energy capacity, and solar power makes up 21% of that. This shows how hard the state is working to promote renewable energy and how solar energy is becoming a bigger part of the mix.
Rooftop Solar Potential
In addition to ground-mounted and floating solar, rooftops across the state have significant potential. “Rooftops across the state have the potential to host up to 10 GW of solar installations,” highlighting opportunities for decentralized solar adoption and energy self-sufficiency.
Odisha has a lot of different kinds of solar energy potential, such as big ground projects, floating installations, and systems on roofs. This makes the state the best in India at growing renewable energy. Odisha has a lot of land, water bodies that can hold floating solar panels, and rooftops that can hold solar panels.
With continued investments and development, the state is on track to realize its full 200 GW solar potential, further strengthening India’s renewable energy footprint and advancing sustainability goals.
