Ola Electric Patents Removable Battery, Revolutionizing EV Tech

For usage in EV, Ola Electric has submitted a design patent application for a detachable battery. The patent features a cylindrical design that is similar to other currently available swappable batteries and has a grab hold at the top.

Ola may use this new swappable battery in its forthcoming EV three-wheelers, in contrast to its present line of fixed-battery electric scooters.

With a few notable exceptions, like Hero-owned Vida, which uses this technology in its EV two-wheelers, swappable batteries are primarily employed for commercial applications. In addition, Bounce uses interchangeable batteries in their e-scooters.

Typically, their main use is still in the business sector; Yuma Energy, for instance, utilises them for last-mile EV two-wheelers, and in some parts of the nation, Honda has created its own interchangeable battery system for use in electric three-wheelers.
