Patel Engineering Secures ₹910 Crore Contract for Renuka Ji Dam Project in Himachal Pradesh

Patel Engineering Limited has received a major boost to its project portfolio with the award of a ₹910.08 crore contract for the Renuka Ji Dam Project (Package-1). The Letter of Award (LOA) was issued by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) on March 19, 2026.

LOA Confirms Major Infrastructure Win

The award follows Patel Engineering’s earlier selection as the lowest (L1) bidder for the project. The issuance of the LOA formally marks the commencement of the company’s engagement in this significant infrastructure development.

The project is in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, in the village of Dadahu, Tehsil Renuka. It should be done in 30 months.

Project Scope and Key Features

Patel Engineering will build three big diversion tunnels under the contract. Each tunnel will be 9.5 meters wide and 1.3 to 1.6 kilometres long. The work also includes building structures for the inlet and outlet, as well as about 6 kilometres of roads for getting to and from the site.

In addition, the project involves the installation of advanced hydro-mechanical systems designed to regulate water flow efficiently. Comprehensive instrumentation and monitoring systems will also be deployed to ensure long-term safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Strengthening Hydropower Capabilities

The Renuka Ji Dam Project is an important step forward for Himachal Pradesh’s hydropower infrastructure. The award shows that HPPCL trusts Patel Engineering to handle technically difficult and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Company Track Record

Established in 1949, Patel Engineering has built a strong presence in hydropower, tunnelling, and irrigation sectors. The company has completed over 85 dams, 40 hydroelectric projects, and more than 300 kilometers of tunnelling, working extensively with central public sector undertakings and state government bodies.

Market Performance and Outlook

On March 19, 2026, Patel Engineering’s shares were worth ₹25.09 on the NSE, which was 0.48% more than the last closing price.

The company’s latest contract win strengthens its position in India’s infrastructure sector and shows that it is still focused on quality, safety, and innovation. The Renuka Ji Dam Project is expected to be very important for improving water resource management and helping the development of the region in Himachal Pradesh.
