The Government of India has appointed Shri Rajesh Kumar Agarwal as the Director (Finance) of PFC, effective April 23, 2026. Power Finance Corporation Ltd. is a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise and a leading non-banking financial institution (NBFC) specializing in the Indian power sector.
In the past, Shri Rajesh Kumar Agarwal served as Executive Director (Finance) at PFC.
PFC operates under the Ministry of Power and plays a crucial role in financing projects across power generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy. It is also a key implementing agency for several government schemes aimed at strengthening power infrastructure.
Rajesh Kumar Agarwal have 31 years of experience in the power and financial sectors, he has been associated with PFC since 2009. He contribute in different different key areas such as corporate accounts, fund management, lending, and financial reporting, while also leading digital reforms.
In his new role as a Director (Finance), he will contribute to strategic decision-making and help strengthen PFC’s position in financing India’s energy transition. The appointment comes as the sector continues to see increased investment in clean and sustainable power projects.
Before joining PFC, he worked with NTPC, NPCIL, and DTL in core finance and policy-related roles.
PFC is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power. PFC was conferred the title of a ‘Maharatna CPSE’ in Oct.,2021, and was classified as an Infrastructure Finance Company by the RBI on 28th July,2010.
PFC plays a crucial role in the rise of India as a global player. Increasingly, a country’s development is gauged by measuring its energy usage. With a large fraction of our nation still, unfortunately, without any access to electricity, PFC will become an increasingly important factor in the years to come.
