Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has appointed Amol Taori as Director (Finance), bringing nearly three decades of experience in finance, treasury, banking, insurance and international trade to the power transmission company.
Taori’s appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge. He joins POWERGRID after a long career at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), where he held several senior positions across finance and international trade.
Before joining POWERGRID, Taori served as Executive Director – International Trade at HPCL. In this role, he was responsible for functions related to the company’s international trade operations, adding to his extensive experience in financial management and the energy sector.
During his nearly three-decade tenure at HPCL, Taori held several leadership positions, including Chief General Manager – Finance, Deputy General Manager – Treasury, General Manager – Finance and Senior Manager – Treasury.
His career progression across these roles has provided him with experience in financial planning and management, treasury operations, banking, insurance and international trade. This diverse background is expected to support his responsibilities as Director (Finance) at POWERGRID.
Experience across finance and energy
Taori’s professional experience spans key financial functions within the energy sector. His work in treasury and finance has given him exposure to areas such as financial management, banking relationships and treasury operations, while his role in international trade has added experience in cross-border business activities.
His appointment comes at a time when India’s power sector is undergoing significant expansion, driven by rising electricity demand, renewable energy capacity additions and the need for stronger transmission infrastructure.
POWERGRID plays a key role in India’s electricity transmission network and is involved in the development and operation of transmission infrastructure across the country. As the country integrates increasing amounts of renewable power into the grid, investment in transmission and related infrastructure is expected to remain important.
In this environment, financial management will continue to be a critical part of the company’s operations, particularly as large-scale infrastructure projects require significant capital investment and long-term financial planning.
New financial leadership at POWERGRID
Taori’s experience across multiple financial functions at HPCL is expected to complement POWERGRID’s financial and strategic requirements. His background in treasury, finance and international trade could also provide relevant expertise as the company manages capital requirements and its broader financial operations.
His appointment further adds senior leadership experience to POWERGRID as the company continues to support the expansion and modernisation of India’s power transmission infrastructure.
With nearly 30 years of experience at HPCL and leadership exposure across finance, treasury and international trade, Taori brings a broad financial background to his new role at POWERGRID.
He will assume the position of Director (Finance) at POWERGRID from the date he takes charge, and will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial functions as it continues to expand its role in India’s power transmission ecosystem.
