Reliance Infrastructure has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from NHPC Limited for the development of a 390 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project integrated with a 780 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Once completed, the project will add 700 MWp of solar DC capacity and 780 MWh of storage to Reliance Group’s clean energy portfolio, cementing its leadership in the integrated solar + storage segment.
Competitive Tariff & Industry Response
The winning tariff was discovered at ₹3.13/kWh, placing it among India’s most cost-effective dispatchable renewable projects. NHPC’s tender attracted bids from 15 companies, of which 14 qualified for the e-reverse auction. The round was oversubscribed nearly four times, underscoring the growing appetite for hybrid renewable + storage projects in India.
Expanding Reliance’s Renewable Footprint
Reliance Power, part of Reliance Group, already operates a portfolio of 2.5 GWp solar and 2.5 GWh BESS capacity. With this award, the Group’s pipeline will exceed 3 GWp of solar DC and 3.5 GWh of BESS, making it India’s largest integrated solar + storage player.
The project represents a significant leap in Reliance’s clean energy transition strategy. It will provide round-the-clock, reliable, and dispatchable renewable energy, aligning with India’s push for grid stability and large-scale renewable integration.
“This award strengthens Reliance Group’s position as a frontrunner in India’s renewable energy sector and reflects our commitment to building one of the largest clean energy portfolios in the country,” a company official said.
With NHPC’s backing and industry-leading tariffs, this project is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating India’s transition toward a sustainable and resilient power system.
