The world leader in micromobility, Segway, has revealed a brand-new Crimson Red coloring for its well-liked Xafari electric bike (e-bike). The alternative offers a striking new look that complements the Xafari’s original elegant yet subtle grey and silver design. A platform already commended for its comfort, adaptability, and cutting-edge technology has even more appeal with the new finish, which is intended to give the multi-surface electric cruiser a bold feeling of personal expression.
“The new red Xafari brings even more personality to a bike that’s already redefining how smart and tech-forward an electric bicycle can be,” stated Nick Howe, head of e-bike. “This colorway turns heads, but more importantly, it reflects the bold, confident rider we built this product for. We’re excited to give our riders another way to stand out on the road or trail—in both style and performance.”
When choosing the new colorway, Segway sought input from its dealers. While several options were presented, the response in favor of the Crimson Red was overwhelming. “Our dealers are the core of our e-bike business and on the frontlines,” stated Howe. “They interact with and listen to customers every day. So for us, listening to and supporting them is crucial.”
The Xafari multi-surface electric cruiser bike and the moto-inspired Xyber were the brand’s official CES 2025 launches, marking its entry into the e-bike market. With a sleek, contemporary step-through frame, significant power, and well-considered features, the Segway Xafari is the more conventional of the two bikes and is designed for riders of all ages and skill levels.
Depending on local regulations, it can be classified as a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. It has a 750-watt hub motor and adaptive power boost, which allow it to easily handle hills and trails. An innovative battery management system and a high-efficiency 936 watt-hour removable battery enable a class-leading range of up to 88 miles, allowing riders to concentrate more on the route and less on when to plug in.
The Xafari’s design prioritizes comfort with its upright rider geometry, front and rear suspension (80 millimeters front and 70 millimeters rear), and high-volume 26 x 3.0-inch multi-surface tires that offer traction and bump-smoothing capabilities on and off pavement. For riders between 5’1″ and 6’2″, it’s simple to select the perfect fit thanks to the adjustable seat, stem, handlebar, and display.
The Segway Intelligent Ride System, an integrated suite of smart technology and features that offers amazing innovation and value, is what really makes the Xafari stand out, though, thanks to its smart connection and safety features.
- AirLock wireless proximity security automatically engages mechanical locks and shuts out system access to unauthorized users when you walk away (and unlocks when you return). Should someone mess with your ride, an alarm will sound and incrementally increase in volume until deactivated while sending a real-time alert to your phone. It can also be engaged/disengaged via the mobile app or a passcode on the display.
- Apple Find My and Segway GPS dual-component tracking with high-frequency location refresh allow you to know where your bike is at all times.
- Segway IOT (internet of things) works with GPS to allow remote monitoring, control through the app, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. The system provides maintenance updates and prompts to ensure that you never miss a service interval. Bike/user cloud binding and bike/battery cloud binding thwart unauthorized use of the vehicle or battery removal.
- The adaptive pedal assist technology automatically changes how much power it gives based on the steepness of the hill, the type of ground, and how hard the rider is pedaling, using a smart algorithm, an internal gyroscope, and a cadence sensor (Xyber)/torque sensor (Xafari).
- The multi-color, high-resolution, 2.4-inch smart TFT display automatically adjusts its brightness for maximum visibility, features navigation and real-time ride metrics, connects to and controls music on the rider’s phone, and can hold or reject calls.
- An intuitive bar-mounted scroll wheel controls 12 different speed and assistance levels and changes screens on the display.
- Segway’s intelligent lighting system features automatic headlights with high/low beams as well as daytime running lights and taillights.
- Real-time health and fitness data syncing connects the bike to Apple and Android mobile health apps and the Segway Mobility app.
